For facilitators, coaches, consultants and organisational leaders

Turn leadership insight into facilitated practice and organisational change.

The Contribution Shift gives practitioners one connected framework for helping people understand leadership, practise real decisions, experience consequences and strengthen the conditions that allow contribution to continue through others — now including ContributionShift-LIVE (Apple App available at the App Store) Multiplayer for facilitated leadership simulation with feedback every round. Practitioners can now generate a self-serve trial Practitioner ID for five facilitated sessions, then request a licence for ongoing access.

ContributionShift-LIVE (Apple App available at the App Store): facilitated leadership simulation

ContributionShift-LIVE Multiplayer gives practitioners a live, role-based simulation for helping leaders experience the consequences of contribution through others — with feedback every round. A Practitioner ID is required to create facilitated multi-user sessions.

Facilitator launch

Start with a Practitioner ID, then open the Facilitation Console

The web console is the facilitator’s control room. A Practitioner ID unlocks facilitated session creation. The console creates the session code, manages participants, assigns or confirms roles, opens rounds, tracks submitted decisions, resolves shared outcomes and produces the closing review.

Participants join from the ContributionShift-LIVE app (Apple App available at the App Store) by choosing Multiplayer / Facilitated Mode and entering the session code provided by the facilitator. Participants do not need a Practitioner ID.

The value for practitioners is not only the gameplay. It is the structured debrief: each round gives visible evidence of how leadership decisions shift clarity, trust, authority, capability, flow, follow-through, contribution debt and organisational pressure.

Use this mode for leadership programs, OD workshops, team development, culture conversations and practitioner pilots where one shared organisation is experienced from different roles. Self-guided ADEMO sessions in the app do not require a Practitioner ID; facilitated multi-user sessions do.

Practitioner access, trial sessions and licensing

Facilitated multi-user sessions are practitioner-led. A Practitioner ID is required to create sessions, while participants only need the session code.

Self-serve trial

Generate a trial Practitioner ID

Practitioners can generate a self-serve trial Practitioner ID online. The trial allows up to five facilitated sessions so you can test the workflow, run a pilot or evaluate the simulation with a small group.

Facilitated access

Use the ID in the console

Enter the Practitioner ID in the ContributionShift-LIVE (Apple App available at the App Store) Facilitation Console. Once accepted, the console can create a facilitated session code for participants to enter in the iOS app.

Licence request

Request ongoing access

When the five trial sessions have been used, request a licence for ongoing facilitated use. Include your Practitioner ID, organisation, expected use and approximate session volume.

Access rule

Practitioner ID → creates facilitated sessions. Session code → lets participants join. Participants never need a Practitioner ID. ADEMO / self-guided demo sessions remain available from the app without a Practitioner ID.

How practitioners can use ContributionShift-LIVE

Use it as a leadership laboratory: a safe place to test decisions, see system effects and turn abstract leadership ideas into practical OD conversations.

Role-based learning

Put leaders inside the system

Participants do not simply discuss leadership from the outside. They play different organisational roles, make decisions under pressure and see how one role’s choices can strengthen or weaken another role’s ability to contribute.

Round feedback

Debrief what changed

After each round, the facilitator can use the shared consequences and private player feedback to explore what improved, what deteriorated and what hidden contribution costs were created.

OD conversation

Connect behaviour to conditions

The simulation helps practitioners move beyond “good/bad leadership choice” discussion into the conditions that OD people care about: clarity, authority, trust, capability, flow, accountability and follow-through.

The core practitioner question

What happened in the system because you did it? This question turns the game from entertainment into facilitated learning, organisational diagnosis and practical behaviour change.

A simple round-by-round facilitation flow

ContributionShift-LIVE is designed for synchronised rounds. The facilitator controls the pace, then uses the feedback to create learning before the next decision is made.

1

Frame the round

Remind participants of the organisation’s current pressure, maturity and contribution conditions. Ask them to decide from their assigned role, not from hindsight.

2

Players decide

Each participant chooses an action in the app. Their decision represents a leadership move with consequences for people, work, relationships and the wider system.

3

Resolve outcomes

The facilitator resolves the round in the web console. The simulation generates shared consequences, private feedback and a clearer picture of what shifted.

4

Debrief before moving on

Discuss what changed, what was unintended, which conditions improved or weakened, and what participants would now do differently in their real work.

What to debrief after each round

The simulation becomes most powerful when the facilitator links player decisions to the contribution system, not just to individual performance.

Debrief prompts

Questions practitioners can ask

  • What did your role optimise for in this round?
  • Who gained clarity, authority or capability because of your decision?
  • Who carried extra ambiguity, pressure or contribution debt?
  • What changed in trust, flow or follow-through?
  • Was the decision locally sensible but systemically costly?
  • What workplace pattern does this remind you of?
  • What is one leadership move you would test differently next time?
Practical setup

Before running a session

  1. Decide whether the session is for leadership development, team learning, OD diagnosis or culture conversation.
  2. Generate or obtain a Practitioner ID, then open the Facilitation Console and create a fresh session code.
  3. Ask participants to install ContributionShift-LIVE from the App Store before the session.
  4. Have participants join using Multiplayer / Facilitated Mode and the session code only.
  5. Confirm roles and explain that feedback is part of the learning, not a performance judgement.
  6. Leave time after each round for discussion before opening the next round.
  7. Use the closing review to capture insights, commitments and possible workplace experiments.

A practical facilitated pathway

Use only the parts required for the group or organisational need. The value comes from the connection between them.

1

Frame the shift

Use the Book and framework to establish the move from personal contribution to contribution through others.

2

Diagnose dependency

Use the Step Away Challenge to reveal where clarity, authority, capability, flow or follow-through still depend on the leader.

3

Practise judgement

Use Contribution Shift the Game to explore realistic decisions and reveal how participants reason.

4

Experience consequences

Use ContributionShift-LIVE Multiplayer to examine what leadership choices create across people, work, pressure and time, then debrief the feedback before the next round.

5

Apply and measure

Use the Mentor, CMMO®, Contribution Mapping and a focused 90-Day Incursion to connect learning to the workplace.

Example session formats

These are starting structures, not rigid programs. Practitioners can adapt them to the context, audience and available time.

60 minutes

Leadership judgement conversation

  • Introduce contribution through others
  • Use one Step Away prompt to expose dependency
  • Work through selected game scenarios
  • Compare reasoning, not just answers
  • Choose one practical leadership shift
90 minutes

Two complementary practitioner uses

The ecosystem can support both individual leadership development and broader organisational work.

Develop leadership judgement

Help participants recognise when they are taking over, rescuing, withholding authority, protecting dependency or enabling genuine contribution.

  • Emerging-leader programs
  • Manager development
  • Coaching conversations
  • Team-leader workshops
  • ContributionShift-LIVE simulation debriefs
  • Leadership reflection groups

Strengthen organisational contribution

Move beyond individual behaviour to examine the conditions, interfaces and systems shaping contribution across the organisation.

  • CMMO® maturity conversations
  • Contribution-condition assessment
  • Contribution Mapping
  • Critical Contribution Path selection
  • ContributionShift-LIVE evidence and closing reviews
  • 90-Day Incursion planning

Build evidence as you facilitate

The strongest future practitioner pathway will be built from real use. Each facilitated session or pilot should capture practical evidence of learning and change.

Initial leadership patterns
Decisions and reasoning
Round-by-round feedback
Participant reflections
Behavioural commitments
Follow-up observations
Workplace outcomes

Suggested next move: run a small ContributionShift-LIVE practitioner pilot

Start with a contained group, use the Step Away Challenge as the entry diagnostic, then run a short facilitated ContributionShift-LIVE session. Capture the round-by-round feedback, participant reflections, behavioural commitments and any follow-up evidence. The aim is to learn what works in practice before claiming certification, licensing or formal accreditation.

Use the ecosystem to start a better leadership conversation.

Begin with the framework, run a ContributionShift-LIVE facilitated simulation, or move directly into organisational maturity and contribution flow.
